BIO

temporary moon - the debut recording by PEI, Canada's Jamie MacSwain - is an album of ragged singer-songwriter rock MacSwain describes as "Ron Sexsmith meets the Ramones.” Other musical influences include 80s R.E.M. and 90s Sloan.

MacSwain emerged as a singer-songwriter in the flourishing East Coast music scene of the 1990s, quickly scoring covers and co-writes with local and regional acts.  Cut to the present.  Fueled a by batch of new songs, Jamie enlisted local producer and engineer Adam Gallant (Al Tuck, Paper Lions, Racoon Bandit).  They hit the studio with drums and wires and a stripped down sonic vision.

Set under a ragged starry night-sky, guitars and drums drive the signature opening track Leavin' Town.

Met up with an old friend out last night
Crashed around the town
It looked glamorous in streetlight
Danced with every girl who fell my way
Don't feel quite as charming today

From the stately and tender Oksana, to the Ramones-ish Back in Bed, temporary moon is like

listening to crows in the park
at dusk
while your small screen portal to the big world
clamours away
